John 12:46-48

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

“The request to judge immediately is out of character with Jesus’ current ministry. There are warnings of judgment in Jesus’ ministry, but the judgment itself will come later (10:13–16; 17:20–36). The decision made about him is all-important, but judgment is not for now. The Twelve realize from their earlier mission and the shaking of the dust from their feet that refusal has eschatological consequences (9:5), but God graciously gives people time to reflect on their decision.”
