“This announcement of peace on earth is not the Pax Romana, brought about by imperial decree. Nor is it the cessation of warfare between rival groups. This peace is the transcendent peace which brings an end to the conflict between men and God. To those who hear the message of the coming of the Messiah, the war is over. Peace has become incarnated in the Prince of Peace, who came to reconcile us with God.”
